Maurice Ragogna,
Managing Director, Forensics

As Managing Director of Forensics, Maurice Ragogna is responsible for digital forensic investigations, chain-of-custody, and expert witness services. He brings more than 36 years of policing experience in civil and criminal investigations to Cytelligence.

In his capacity as a forensic computer examiner, he was required to assist law enforcement personnel in the execution of search warrants, seize electronic media and perform an examination for evidence contained in the media seized. He has testified as an expert witness in Computer Forensics, in a number of criminal trials at both the Superior Court and Provincial Court level. He was also granted expert witness status in Digital Video, in one murder trial held in Superior Court.

His professional qualifications benefit Cytelligence clients in three ways: First, at a time when police forces are overworked and understaffed, Maurice knows which client files can be successfully pursued as criminal matters and which files should be pursued as civil actions.

Second, complaints by Cytelligence clients that justify the criminal justice process, are to be reported and must be presented to law enforcement officials in a manner which demonstrates that proper forensic procedures were followed, making the continued investigation by police force as efficient as possible. No one knows how to do this better than Maurice, always respecting the chain-of-custody and other critical forensic-related methodologies.

Third, Maurice's understanding of police procedures and of the latest tools and techniques in forensic investigations, combined with his contacts locally, nationally, and internationally, means Cytelligence clients are "plugged into" the best tools, technologies, and professionals.

He founded the High Tech Crime Investigative Association (HTCIA), Ontario Chapter, in 1998 and has been its president on four different occasions.

He is a Certified Electronic Evidence Collection Specialist (CEECS) and Certified Black Bag Examiner (CBE) – a Macintosh/Apple Forensic Software. In addition, he holds the A+ Certification from the Computer Technology Industry Association (CompTIA). He has designed and taught computer forensics courses; he has been a guest lecturer at a number of universities and colleges.

He has received many commendations and tributes from the Premier of Ontario, the Mayor of Toronto and the Chief of Toronto Police Service.
